Tchaikovsky's beloved holiday classic premiered in 2017 and has since become a cherished annual tradition for families across Brevard County. Performed by the Brevard Ballet Youth Company, The Nutcracker Ballet features festive costumes, breathtaking scenery, and dancers ranging from young performers to pre-professional artists.
Each year, Artistic Director Elena Shokhina reimagines the production by introducing new choreography, costumes, and artistic elements, ensuring every performance offers audiences a fresh and unforgettable holiday experience while preserving the timeless magic of this holiday tradition.
Repertoire
Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake is one of the most iconic works in classical ballet, telling the timeless story of Princess Odette, who is transformed into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse, and the prince whose love offers hope of breaking the spell. With its unforgettable score, breathtaking corps de ballet, and the celebrated dual role of Odette/Odile, Swan Lake remains the pinnacle of the classical repertoire.
Premiered by the Brevard Ballet Youth Company in 2024, this full-length production was presented in collaboration with the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra. Under the artistic direction of Elena Shokhina, the production featured elaborate costumes, classical choreography, and exceptional performances by the Youth Company's dancers, marking a milestone in bringing professional-quality classical ballet to Brevard County.
A cherished annual holiday tradition, The Nutcracker follows young Clara on a magical Christmas Eve journey — from the battle with the Mouse King to the enchanting Land of Sweets. Tchaikovsky's beloved score and the dazzling divertissements make this a treasured event for Brevard County families year after year.
Each December, the Brevard Ballet Youth Company brings the magic of The Nutcracker to the Brevard County community, complete with festive costumes, scenery, and dancers of every level from the academy. It is a holiday celebration the whole community looks forward to.
Prokofiev's Cinderella brings the beloved fairy tale to life through the beauty of classical ballet, enchanting audiences with its timeless story of kindness, hope, and transformation. Set to Sergei Prokofiev's sweeping score, this full-length production features elegant choreography, memorable characters, and spectacular storytelling.
Premiered by the Brevard Ballet Youth Company in 2019, Cinderella showcased the artistry, technical excellence, and theatrical storytelling of its dancers. Under the artistic direction of Elena Shokhina, the production became a memorable addition to the Youth Company's growing repertoire of full-length classical ballets.
Paquita and the Future of Ballet celebrated both the rich tradition and exciting future of dance. The production featured excerpts from the classical ballet Paquita, staged by Artistic Director Elena Shokhina, alongside a large-scale contemporary work choreographed by Brevard Ballet Academy's Head of Contemporary Division, Colin Fuller, featuring the Academy's Pre-Professional Division.
The performance also showcased additional works and variations developed throughout the season, highlighting the artistry, technical growth, and versatility of the Academy's dancers in a dynamic end-of-season performance.
