Beyond the Barre
Supplementary Dance Programs

Classical ballet is the heart of what we do — but the journey doesn't end at the barre. These supplementary programs help dancers in Melbourne, Brevard County grow stronger, more versatile, and more complete artists.

Beyond the Barre

More Than Classical Ballet

Our supplementary programs give dancers the chance to grow beyond the classical barre — building strength, versatility, and artistry through contemporary movement, conditioning, character dance, and more.

From expressive contemporary choreography to focused conditioning and intensive summer training, each offering rounds out a dancer's education and deepens their love of movement.

Our Offerings

Explore What's Beyond the Barre

From conditioning to contemporary, each program enriches our students' classical foundation in a different way.

Contemporary

Contemporary classes expand a dancer’s movement vocabulary beyond classical lines. Students explore floor work, release technique, and expressive choreography that builds versatility, musicality, and artistic freedom.

Body Conditioning

Targeted strength, flexibility, and core work designed specifically for dancers. These sessions build the stability and stamina that support clean technique, helping students dance stronger and reduce the risk of injury.

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT)

An innovative training program that develops muscle memory and core control using exercise balls and resistance bands. PBT helps dancers understand and feel correct alignment, dramatically improving balance, control, and technique.

Character Dance

Character dance introduces the stylized folk and national dances woven throughout the classical ballet repertoire. Students learn the footwork, ports de bras, and theatrical flair essential to full-length story ballets.

Master Classes

Special sessions with guest teachers and visiting professionals bring fresh perspectives to our students. Master classes expose dancers to new coaching styles, repertoire, and the standards of the wider ballet world.

Summer Intensives

Focused multi-week training for serious students at Ballet 2 and above. Daily classes in technique, pointe, variations, and repertoire accelerate progress and prepare dancers for fall auditions under the guidance of Elena Shokhina.

Summer Camps

Joyful, week-long summer camps for our youngest dancers in Melbourne, FL. Campers explore ballet, creative movement, crafts, and storytelling in a warm, encouraging environment — a perfect first taste of the studio.
